DESCRIPTION:Join Ali Burns and Jennie Fisk for a day of glorious a-cappella harmony singing in the lovely Rook Lane Chapel\, Frome \nA day of glorious harmony singing with truly inspiring song leader and composer Ali Burns joined by co-leader\, the lovely Jennie Fisk. Whether you’re a seasoned singer or consider yourself a novice\, this workshop is perfect for all levels. Songs will be taught by ear in a relaxed and welcoming environment. \nAli says “I love the way that harmony singing is such an equaliser; the way singers lift each other to sing things we wouldn’t necessarily manage on our own. \nAnd I love the way you can leave the weight of daily life at the door and know that no matter how low or out of sorts you’re feeling\, singing will lift you into a better place”. \nhttps://aliburns.co.uk/ \nThis workshop is hosted by Clara Atkins ‘Sing With Clarity’. Clara leads two community choirs\, a peace choir and a women’s wellbeing singing circle\, as well as running one-off singing workshops. “I am a big fan of Ali’s work and teach many of her songs to my choirs. I am excited to be hosting her in Frome and can’t wait to hear what songs she’ll be sharing with us! Hope and renewal are visible and the excitement of the beginning of a new cycle of growth is felt amongst us all. \nCherished by many\, this annual event gathers gardening enthusiasts\, community groups and enterprises\, local producers and businesses to celebrate local food and horticulture together. It originates among the nomads of the central Asian plateau\, particularly the Altai and Sayan mountain regions of Mongolia and Tyva. \nDuring the workshop we will begin to learn aspects of Tagnain Khőőmii\, which will aid in exploring and listening to the overtones in our own voices\, and discovering unknown depths and heights in our singing. Learning materials and exercises will be provided for independent study and practice\, enabling each participant to get the maximum benefit from the face to face tuition. You’ll learn the key features needed to safely identify each mushroom and where each is commonly found. \nIn the afternoon you will be creating your own wild mushroom ‘medicine cabinet.’ You will learn how to safely preserve your mushrooms and extract their medicine for use all year round\, in yours and your loved ones lives – for a host of illness and preventative uses. This medicine is often very expensive and our shared vision is to support you to be able to do it yourself safely. Our intention is for you to feel empowered to harvest your own mushroom medicine cabinet and grow your own medicinal mushrooms. \nYou will also learn the ancient technique of mushroom inoculation – a highly sustainable method that mimics nature and produces mushrooms dense in nutrients that are hard to find from other food sources. DESCRIPTION:Our earliest experiences of family shape us more deeply than we often realise. Our families are where we learned about relationships\, and whether we grew up with siblings or without them\, we each carry quiet stories about belonging\, comparison\, responsibility\, closeness\, rivalry\, or loneliness from these foundational early years. These stories don’t disappear when we become adults and it can be surprising how often they are still alive in how we view our place in the world today. \nAs mothers\, these patterns subtly inform how we see our children\, how we interpret their relationships\, and how we respond and relate to the dynamics between them. We want our children to get along (or have a healthy only-child experience)\, while also knowing how deeply precious they are to us. When we experience sibling rivalry\, troubling behaviour\, or even ‘the easy kid’\, there are so many stories in the making for our children and as the parents we can find ourselves responding based on the hurts or stories of where we came from. But this often means we miss things\, because there are always more sides to any story. \nThe Sibling Story is an opportunity to gain new perspective on patterns and stories created by our ‘oldest\, ‘middle’\, ‘baby’ identities\, wherever or whatever the variation. It is a gentle space to put ourselves in the shoes of our children and bring some curiosity to how we can support them to the most vibrant versions of themselves\, within their sibling identity and outside of it. And an opportunity for ourselves as adults to shed any stories that are still keeping us in habits or behaviours that we never loved to begin with. \nThis workshop invites curiosity\, compassion\, and perspective. This is not a parenting “how-to” or a space for comparison. It is a reflective\, human space. One that honours complexity\, individuality\, and the reality that every family looks and feels different. \nYou’ll leave with greater clarity\, new perspective and awareness\, and practical insights you can carry into everyday family life –  supporting both your children and yourself to thrive.

Whether you seek a quick reset or want to improve your energy levels\, these practices become a supportive companion whenever you need them.\nThe session begins with gentle yoga postures that warm the body\, cultivating flexibility and freeing the breath\, effortlessly transitioning into a seated practice\, where comfort is ensured with blocks or chairs provided on-site\, allowing you to fully immerse in the experience. You’ll then be guided through breathing techniques (prāṇāyāma) using postures and sitting. \nPlease come in warm and comfortable clothing. If you have a yoga mat and a blanket\, please bring them with you. (a few spare mats available) There are chairs available.

You’ll explore the impacts of forgiveness – on your mental\, emotional and physical wellbeing. Forgiveness is never about saying that what happened was okay; it’s about finding freedom and moving on from the past. \nWe’ll also talk about why forgiveness can be so hard\, and the most common obstacles that get in our way. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of what helps and what doesn’t\, along\nwith simple ways to start practicing forgiveness in your own life. \nThis workshop is a practical way of imagining more kindness—for yourself\, for others\, and for the world around you. When you decide to let go of a resentment\, your heart lightens up\, and makes space so more love can flow through you and into your world.

DESCRIPTION:We probably danced before we talked. Moving our bodies is part of being kind to ourselves and brings us in contact with others and with our environment. Dance gives us the freedom to move and become more joyfully empowered. \nIn this Dance Event you are invited to participate in three very different styles of dance. We will start with the luxurious curves and fluid moves of the Middle East\, progress to connecting with the power and earthiness of Africa and finish with the calm and meditative moves of the Circle Dance\, a form of dance that stretches across continents and cultures\, and connects us both to our inner selves and to the world around us. \nWe invite you to join in the experience of all three dances as a journey in music and movement. It is also possible to join for just one or two sessions of the three. \nWear loose comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement and soft shoes suitable for dancing \nBring a scarf large enough to tie round your hips for the Middle Eastern dance. \nThis event takes place at Rook Lane Chapel\, Bath Street\, Frome\, BA11 1DN.
