We reclaim Frome’s high street once a month to showcase the best independent craftspeople\, designers\, makers\, food producers and vintage traders in the South West. \nThe market takes place on the first Sunday of the month from March to December and strives to be ‘more than a market’\, incorporating live music\, DJs\, street performance\, workshops and activities for children and adults alike on market days. \nThe market is a free event for visitors and has quickly grown to be one of the most significant elements in the region’s calendar attracting over 80\,000 visitors each year. \nVisitors to the market can find contemporary craft\, designer-made homewares\, ethical clothing and jewellery in our Designer-Maker section\, discover fledgling design start-ups in our Suitcase Sale\, have a rummage through vintage nostalgia in our Flea Market or browse indoor plants\, gardenalia and homewares in our Homes & Gardens section. Food lovers can discover local produce from cheese and cider to vegan cakes and kimchi. We work with Somerset Farmers Markets who curate a section for farmers\, growers and producers. There’s also a huge and vibrant range of street food to choose from.

DESCRIPTION:As part of the wider “Frome Connects” project in May\, Mojo Moves founder Ginny Adams is hosting a free to attend Kate Bush Flash Mob on the town’s famous Catherine Hill. \nDress up as the legend that is Bush (in the Running Up That Hill video) and join us for an impromptu dance on the hill to the track “Running Up That Hill”.\nYou can come as you are and just do your own thing or learn the simple choreography which will be offered at live rehearsals throughout May\, as well as being available on video via the Facebook event and on the Mojo Moves website. No actual running required. \nAfter the track has played once through\, we will head down the hill along Palmer Street and to the entrance of the formidable St John’s Church where head bell ringer Tony Hodges will lead his fellow campanologists in ringing out the tune – which has seen a resurgence due to cult TV show Stranger Things – on the bells which date back to the 17th and 18th Centuries! Ding dong! \nCome and join us and be a part of something legendary. \nFrome Connects is a town-wide\, people-powered experiment built around connectedness.

DESCRIPTION:Prompted by regular Mojo Mover Jayne James’ recent appearance on The Repair Shop\, and\, as part of the wider Frome Connects project\, this special session will have a playlist shaped by songs that remind us of people we love and miss.\nJayne appeared on the BBC1 show with her childhood teddy bear – a small companion with an extraordinary story.\nThe bear was originally given to her mum\, Betty\, a nurse at St Martin’s Hospital in Bath\, in 1960 by Hollywood songwriter Sharon Sheeley\, shortly after she survived the car crash that tragically killed her boyfriend\, rock ’n’ roll legend Eddie Cochran.\nAt the time\, Betty was pregnant\, and the bear was passed on to baby Jayne\, becoming a lifelong companion.\nJayne lost her mum last year\, and her story led us to think about how powerfully music can hold memories. Our initial idea was to create a rock ’n’ roll special featuring the music of Eddie Cochran\, but we decided instead to open it up – inviting all participants to share songs that hold personal meaning.\nYou’re very welcome to send in a song – just please do so at least one week in advance\, as we’ll be choreographing any new tracks ahead of time.\nThere will still be all the usual Mojo Moves energy\, warmth and connection – just with an added layer of meaning.\nProceeds will go to a charity of Jayne’s choice.

At the Free Trade Hall in Manchester\, one voice rang out above the rest\, famously shouting “Judas!” Dylan’s response was immediate and legendary: “I don’t believe you!”\,  before instructing the band to play louder. \nExactly years to the day\, The Bob Villains mark this iconic moment in music history\, with a special show at The Tree House\, Frome. This is truly one not to miss. \nCovering Dylan’s career from his early 1960s acoustic work\, through the electric years and his many stylistic reinventions\, The Bob Villains have spent over a decade presenting his music with the respect and depth it deserves. DESCRIPTION:The early 1980s saw a second Liverpool music renaissance\, with China Crisis emerging in 1981 from Kirkby as the songwriting duo Gary Daly (vocals/keyboards) and Eddie Lundon (guitar/vocals). Influenced by Bowie\, Stevie Wonder\, Eric Satie and Brian Eno\, they quickly developed a unique sound—blending synthpop with reggae\, country\, horns\, strings\, and more—working with producers like Mike Howlett\, Langer/Winstanley and Steely Dan’s Walter Becker. \nThe band achieved three UK Top 40 albums and eleven UK Top 50 singles\, including “Wishful Thinking\,” “Christian\,” “Black Man Ray\,” and “King in a Catholic Style\,” while building a loyal fanbase that endures today. Their music continues to reach new audiences\, sampled by artists like French Montana and Action Bronson\, and featured in films and TV such as Gone Girl and Sex Education. \nChina Crisis have toured worldwide for over four decades. DESCRIPTION:Party At The End Of The World – A Celebration Of The Life Of Phil Moakes \nThe Cheese and Grain was deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Phil Moakes\, former Chair of the Cheese and Grain Board of Trustees\, in 2025. \nPhil played a pivotal role in the development of the Cheese and Grain and was instrumental in securing the venue’s long-term future during some of its most challenging years. His dedication\, leadership\, and belief in the venue and its staff helped shape it into the vibrant cultural hub it is today. \nBeyond his work with the Cheese and Grain\, Phil was the founder of Frome FM\, a community radio station that continues to enrich local life. He went on to launch Visual Radio Arts\, giving a platform to hundreds of artists and supporting their work. He also served as a Somerset County Councillor\, working tirelessly to represent and champion the interests of the local community. \nIn celebration of Phil’s life\, we are honoured to be hosting a special event\, “Party At The End Of The World\,” alongside his family and friends. \nThe evening will feature a fantastic line-up including The Utopia Strong\, Arch Garrison\, Richard\, Chantelle & Amy\, Kavus Torabi\, The Jolly Rotter\, Hodmadoddery\, Sara Vian and will be hosted by Martin Dimery. \nWe remain profoundly grateful for Phil’s vision\, support\, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind\, not only within the Cheese and Grain\, but across the wider Frome community. \nIn celebration of his life and in honour of this legacy\, all funds raised from the event will be donated to support the vital work of Fair Frome.
