Sadly\, Grand Slam was cut short in its prime\, with Phil Lynott’s untimely death leaving a hole in the fabric of rock music to this day. \nLaurence went on to make his name playing with UFO but always nurtured a long-term plan to rebuild the Grand Slam machine. And here it is – primed and ready. \nThe new band (Laurence alongside Mike Dyer\, Benjy Reid and Rocky Newton) honours the traditions of the band’s history whilst also looking to the future – classic tracks co-written by Lynott and Archer sit alongside a set of brand new songs that embody the same ethos of freedom\, positivity and adrenaline that ran through Grand Slam in 1984.

DESCRIPTION:The Frome Independent is an award winning\, destination street market. We reclaim Frome’s high street once a month to showcase the best independent craftspeople\, designers\, makers\, food producers and vintage traders in the South West. \nThe market takes place on the first Sunday of the month from March to December and strives to be ‘more than a market’\, incorporating live music\, DJs\, street performance\, workshops and activities for children and adults alike on market days. \nThe market is a free event for visitors and has quickly grown to be one of the most significant elements in the region’s calendar attracting over 80\,000 visitors each year. \nVisitors to the market can find contemporary craft\, designer-made homewares\, ethical clothing and jewellery in our Designer-Maker section\, discover fledgling design start-ups in our Suitcase Sale\, have a rummage through vintage nostalgia in our Flea Market or browse indoor plants\, gardenalia and homewares in our Homes & Gardens section. Food lovers can discover local produce from cheese and cider to vegan cakes and kimchi. We work with Somerset Farmers Markets who curate a section for farmers\, growers and producers. There’s also a huge and vibrant range of street food to choose from.

SUMMARY:Tom Mcrae – Live At The Tree House
DESCRIPTION:British singer-songwriter\, Tom McRae\,  has released 9 solo studio albums to date\, and 3 live albums. \nTom’s debut album was nominated for The Mercury Prize\, a Brit Award\, and Q Magazine Award. His latest album\, a duet collaboration with French artists was released to great acclaim in March 2024. \nAs well as his own music\, Tom has written for other artists over the years\, most notably Marianne Faithfull on her 2014 album “Give My Love To London”. His music has been used extensively in film and television\, and McRae regularly composes for orchestras in Europe. \nOver the years Tom has garnered a reputation as a great live act\, whether solo\, trio\, full band\, or with string quartet. Tom’s relationship with his audience is very special\, as anyone who has witnessed the shows can attribute. Despite McRae’s melancholy reputation\, the shows are often funny\, heartfelt\, and rousing. \nPlease note this is an 18+ all standing event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift.
