DESCRIPTION:Ben Ottewell is a British musician best known as the gravelly-voiced frontman of the indie rock band Gomez. Born on June 23\, 1976\, in Chesterfield\, England\, Ottewell began his musical journey at a young age\, inspired by his father’s eclectic record collection. In 1996\, he co-founded Gomez with Ian Ball\, Tom Gray\, Paul Blackburn\, and Olly Peacock while studying at university in Sheffield. \nGomez quickly gained attention with their debut album\, “Bring It On\,” released in 1998\,which won the Mercury Music Prize. Ottewell’s distinctive vocals and songwriting contributed to the band’s unique sound\, characterized by a blend of blues\, folk\, and rock elements. The band went on to release several critically acclaimed albums\, including”Liquid Skin” (1999) and “In Our Gun” (2002) . Throughout Gomez’s career\, Ottewell’s soulful voice and introspective lyrics resonated with fans\, earning him a dedicated following. \nHis solo career saw him exploring a more stripped-down acoustic sound\, showcasing his raw talent and emotive storytelling. In 2011\, Ottewell released his debut solo album\, “Shapes & Shadows\,” followed by”Rattlebag” in 2014 and ‘A Man Apart’ in 2017. DESCRIPTION:Indie rock icons Maxïmo Park celebrate 20 years since the release of their Mercury Prize-nominated breakthrough debut album “A Certain Trigger” with a special one-off show at the Cheese and Grain. \nThe Mercury Prize-nominated record\, produced by Paul Epworth and released on Warp\, arrived with a trio of iconic singles in ‘Apply Some Pressure’\, ‘Graffiti’\, and ‘Going Missing’\, each of which still define the indie disco experience for many to this day. Released at the time into a landscape soon to become dominated by ten-a-penny guitar bands\, with A Certain Trigger Maxïmo Park were the bookish\, livewire outsiders\, bursting with punk power\, pop sensibility and literary smarts. \nEven their signing to Warp records – a label predominantly known for its experimental and electronic roster at the time – suggested a band with its eyes set beyond the horizon. Almost immediately\, and certainly in the time since its release\, A Certain Trigger has installed itself as a scene staple\, and a curiosity of the 00s that packs as much power today as it did 20 years ago. \nLead singer Paul Smith says “Not many bands make it to a twentieth year together so we’re having a big celebration\, with a special 20th anniversary tour and by giving a fresh perspective to A Certain Trigger. Our first album remains dear to so many people\, and compiling archive material for the reissue has been like entering a time machine – thrilling\, but also a bit scary! Happily\, we think the music has more than stood the test of time\, and the tour\, where we’ll revisit many of the beloved older songs\, will be a joyful experience for both us and our audience. Children (and usually parents!) learn about the fundamentals of music: pulse\, pitch\, rhythm and tempo. \nLittle Piccolos’ goal is to develop a musical ear\, foster creativity and collaboration\, and make music accessible to under 5’s\, with the voice as the primary instrument.\nRISE Frome offers the perfect venue for our groups\, accommodating up to 10 children\, to achieve this each week. \nClasses are £6.50 each session\, per child for the duration of the school term.

DESCRIPTION:The legendary indie disco club night Baggy Mondays has announced a special one-off show at Frome’s Cheese & Grain on Friday 26 June 2026\, on what would’ve been Glastonbury Festival weekend. \nFounded in 2002 at London’s iconic Heavenly Social (where it’s the longest-running night)\, Baggy Mondays quickly became one of the capital’s most celebrated nights\, with members of Kasabian and Kings of Leon joining the up-for-it crowds. \nBaggy Mondays has since become a Glastonbury Festival institution\, packing the Stonebridge Bar in The Park on the Thursday of every festival since 2007 with its riotous\, festival-igniting mix of indie\, rock and dance classics from the likes of the Stone Roses\, Oasis\, the Prodigy\, Arctic Monkeys\, Blur\, Fatboy Slim\, Pulp and Nirvana. DESCRIPTION:Highly influential post-punk/indie band\, The Monochrome Set are to play in Frome\, at the Tree House. Loved by artists such as The Smiths\, Franz Ferdinand and Blur and covered by such diverse acts as Iggy Pop and Tracey Thorn\, this is a unique opportunity to see this legendary act at a small venue in Frome. \nThe band features original Monochrome Set members Bid (guitar/vocals) and Andy Warren (bass) with Athen Ayren on keyboards and Stephen Gilchrist on drums. \nThe Monochrome Set formed in 1978\, and were heavily influential in the post-punk scene that evolved after the initial scorched earth of punk. \nThe band’s early releases were on the legendary Rough Trade Label before signing with Virgin offshoot Din Disc. They also released several albums on the Cherry Red label\, making a notable appearance on that labels’ well known “Pillows and Prayers” compilation.\nThough The Monochrome Set split in 1985 the next decade saw several reunions for both live gigs and further studio recordings. After a hiatus of over a decade the band reformed full time in 2010 and have since toured all over the UK\, Europe\, Japan and the USA\, whilst also releasing eight new\, critically acclaimed\, studio albums. \nNow in their 48th year\, they are beginning a new series of gigs promoting their latest album and playing songs old and new. \nCo-founder and ever-present member of Yeovil-based indie pop band The Chesterfields\, Simon Chesterfield returns with a new pop band and new pop music. A seven inch single will be released by Spinout Nuggets in December. \nSimon Chesterfield’s eponymous debut album was released by German label Legere Recordings in October 2024\, a 10 inch vinyl album featuring six of Simon’s compositions reimagined as an orchestral performance. This was followed by a 7 inch single ‘Last Train To Christmas’ released by the Dutch label Snowflakes Christmas Single Club in November 2024\, landing somewhere between the orchestral sound of the 10 inch and the jangle pop of The Chesterfields. \nSimon’s new band line-up features Billy Shinbone (Neville Staple band\, The Sinclairs) on guitar and vocals\, Joe Atkinson (Donovan\, The Rhynes) on keyboards and vocals\, Wayne Higgins (John Parish band\, Radio Flyer) on bass guitar\, and producer Ben Scott Turner (i-nichi\, Evil Owl) on drums. \nPlease note this is an 18+ all standing event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift. DESCRIPTION:T’PAU burst onto the music scene in 1987 with the hit Heart & Soul reaching No. 4 in both the UK and US charts. This led to a meteoric rise in T’pau’s fortunes at home and in the USA\, where the track stayed on the US Billboard Chart for six months. After a European Arena Tour supporting Bryan Adams and another UK Tour of their own\, T’pau’s next single China In Your Hand stayed at No1 for five weeks – the longest serving No1 of the year. \nSimultaneously\, their debut album Bridge of Spies occupied the No1 album slot for two weeks and went on to become a certified quadruple platinum in the UK – selling 1.2 million copies. Their own arena concerts followed\, and the subsequent 1988 record Rage also went platinum. T’Pau were nominated for 5 Brit Awards\, an Ivor Novello Award and won an ASCAP Award from the USA for Heart & Soul. \nThe band are now a regular fixture on the Festival and Arena circuit\, annually rocking IOW\, Rewind\, Let’s Rock\, W-Fest\, Here and Now\, Step Back\, Ibiza Hardrock\, Night of The Proms\, 80s Classical\, 80s Orchestral\, and they were special guests on The Human League Generations Tour in 2024.
