Children (and usually parents!) learn about the fundamentals of music: pulse\, pitch\, rhythm and tempo. \nLittle Piccolos’ goal is to develop a musical ear\, foster creativity and collaboration\, and make music accessible to under 5’s\, with the voice as the primary instrument.\nRISE Frome offers the perfect venue for our groups\, accommodating up to 10 children\, to achieve this each week. \nClasses are £6.50 each session\, per child for the duration of the school term.

DESCRIPTION:Party At The End Of The World – A Celebration Of The Life Of Phil Moakes \nThe Cheese and Grain was deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Phil Moakes\, former Chair of the Cheese and Grain Board of Trustees\, in 2025. \nPhil played a pivotal role in the development of the Cheese and Grain and was instrumental in securing the venue’s long-term future during some of its most challenging years. His dedication\, leadership\, and belief in the venue and its staff helped shape it into the vibrant cultural hub it is today. \nBeyond his work with the Cheese and Grain\, Phil was the founder of Frome FM\, a community radio station that continues to enrich local life. He went on to launch Visual Radio Arts\, giving a platform to hundreds of artists and supporting their work. He also served as a Somerset County Councillor\, working tirelessly to represent and champion the interests of the local community. \nIn celebration of Phil’s life\, we are honoured to be hosting a special event\, “Party At The End Of The World\,” alongside his family and friends. \nThe evening will feature a fantastic line-up including The Utopia Strong\, Arch Garrison\, Richard\, Chantelle & Amy\, Kavus Torabi\, The Jolly Rotter\, Hodmadoddery\, Sara Vian and will be hosted by Martin Dimery. \nWe remain profoundly grateful for Phil’s vision\, support\, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind\, not only within the Cheese and Grain\, but across the wider Frome community. \nIn celebration of his life and in honour of this legacy\, all funds raised from the event will be donated to support the vital work of Fair Frome.

Children (and usually parents!) learn about the fundamentals of music: pulse\, pitch\, rhythm and tempo. \nLittle Piccolos’ goal is to develop a musical ear\, foster creativity and collaboration\, and make music accessible to under 5’s\, with the voice as the primary instrument.\nRISE Frome offers the perfect venue for our groups\, accommodating up to 10 children\, to achieve this each week. \nClasses are £6.50 each session\, per child for the duration of the school term.

DESCRIPTION:STRAIGHTEN OUT are the world’s premier Stranglers tribute band with an extensive set-list that spans two solid hours as they re-create the ‘early years’ sound of The Stranglers\, complete with a Hammond organ and Minimoog synth; the same models used by Mr. Greenfield himself\, back in the day! \nThe growling bass sound and the quirky guitar riffs are all there to be heard as is the dual vocal ‘attack’ from the two frontmen a-la Burnel/Cornwell as they rip through the Stranglers’ classic: ‘Peaches’\, ‘Hanging Around’\, ‘No More Heroes’\, ‘5 Minutes’\, ‘The Raven’\, ‘Walk On By’\, ‘Straighten Out’\, ‘Down In The Sewer’ and many more as they cover the Stranglers’ early classic albums and beyond. \nStraighten Out will take you on a nostalgia trip that transports you back to those raw\, powerful\, exhilarating times when The Stranglers emerged through the quagmire of mediocrity to produce some of the finest music ever written. Straighten Out will put you back in that place! \nBassist Shaggy and keyboard player Mick (‘The Doc’) were together in previous Stranglers tribute band ‘Four More Heroes’ and it was only natural that these two continued on after their demise to form ‘Straighten Out’ given their love of Stranglers music and the desire to keep playing live. They set the platform with the growling bass and swirling keyboard sound so essential to reproducing the authentic Stranglers sound. Joining them are Jet ‘Beets’ Beety on drums and Phil Harvey steps up to give you the ‘Hugh’ element to complete the fearsome foursome. \nStraighten Out are a must-see tribute band! \nPlease note this is an 18+ all-standing event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift. DESCRIPTION:Little Piccolos is a social enterprise with 10 years of experience in delivering high-quality music classes for children. \nEarly years music classes are attended by children aged 3 months – 5 years and their parent or care giver. We offer fun and dynamic classes\, taught by trained musicians\, using the Kodaly approach. Children (and usually parents!) learn about the fundamentals of music: pulse\, pitch\, rhythm and tempo. \nLittle Piccolos’ goal is to develop a musical ear\, foster creativity and collaboration\, and make music accessible to under 5’s\, with the voice as the primary instrument.\nRISE Frome offers the perfect venue for our groups\, accommodating up to 10 children\, to achieve this each week. \nClasses are £6.50 each session\, per child for the duration of the school term.
