DESCRIPTION:Frome Voices\, Frome’s largest community choir is delighted to return to the Cheese and Grain on Sunday 22nd March 2026 with a full evening of enticing choral and orchestral music\, enhanced by professional soloists. This year’s performance will include Carl Orff’s popular choral work\, Carmina Burana\, based on a collection of 13th century songs and poems. In addition\, Musical Director Alan Burgess will lead the choir through Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music\, written in1938 to celebrate Sir Henry Wood’s 50 years as a conductor. The concert will also include a performance of 20th century English composer Gerald Finzi’s clarinet concerto\, with orchestral accompaniment. It is reckoned to be one of the finest pieces written for the clarinet. The performance begins at 7.00pm.

He’ll go back on the road with his Cast\, The La’s and Me tour – undoubtedly with some extra stories from this summer\, when Cast supports Oasis in their return to stadium rock. \nJohn had the best rock’n’roll apprenticeship ever – playing bass as an 18-year-old in The La’s. Forming Cast in 1991\, he sang\, wrote songs\, and played guitar for one of Britpop’s pre-eminent bands–securing two platinum-selling records before returning to the charts in 2024 with the magnificent Love Is The Call. \nJohn’s solo career produced some of his best work and through this summer\, Cast will join Oasis at their sell-out football stadium tour. \nHe said: “I had an absolute belter of a time on the road and can’t wait to go at it again; I am pretty sure I’ll have some great stories from the summer ahead\, as well as plenty of other from my career until now. Food lovers can discover local produce from cheese and cider to vegan cakes and kimchi. We work with Somerset Farmers Markets who curate a section for farmers\, growers and producers.
