SUMMARY:Badly Drawn Boy – Live & In Conversation
DESCRIPTION:It was June 2000 when The Hour of the Bewilderbeast won the Mercury Prize and announced the arrival of the beautifully idiosyncratic songwriting talent of Damon Gough aka Badly Drawn Boy. A record full of fragile honesty\, melodic brilliance and emotional depth\, it marked the beginning of a career that would prove as unpredictable as it was enduring. \nOver the years\, Badly Drawn Boy has released a string of acclaimed albums\, including Have You Fed The Fish?\, One Plus One Is One\, Born In The UK\, and It’s What I’m Thinking Part 1: Photographing Snowflakes\, each charting new emotional and musical territory. Alongside these came celebrated film soundtracks\, most notably About A Boy\, the Gold-certified\, much-loved score to the 2002 film starring Hugh Grant\, featuring fan favourites “Silent Sigh” and “Something To Talk About.” \nMore than two decades on from his breakthrough\, Badly Drawn Boy remains one of Britain’s most singular musical voices — a songwriter capable of moments that are tender\, funny\, melancholic and euphoric\, often all at once. \nIn this special Live & In Conversation evening\, he joins BBC 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins for an intimate show of songs and stories spanning an extraordinary career. Expect stripped-back live performances\, reflections on the making of classic records\, behind-the-scenes tales from the Mercury Prize era and beyond\, and a candid look at the highs\, lows and magic that have shaped his journey. \nChris Hawkins is one of BBC 6 Music’s most respected broadcasters\, whose interview credits include Calvin Harris\, The Killers\, Florence Welch\, Dave Grohl\, Björk\, and Jack White. \nThis is a rare opportunity to experience the man behind the music up close\, honest\, warm\, revealing and\, as ever\, wonderfully unpredictable.

Within a year\, they conquered the charts with “Unbelievable\,” a generation-defining hit. \nTheir debut Schubert Dip (1991) captured their raw\, genre-bending sound\, followed by Stigma (1992) and Cha Cha Cha (1995)\, which delved into darker territory before the band took a break. Along the way\, they released a hit cover of The Monkees’ “I’m a Believer” with comedians Vic and Bob. \nDuring their hiatus\, members pursued new paths — James Atkin went solo and taught music\, Ian Dench became an acclaimed songwriter and executive\, Derry Brownson launched Little Killers\, and Zac Foley joined Carrie. \nA 2001 reunion for The Best of EMF: Epsom Mad Funkers hinted at a full comeback\, but Zac’s sudden passing in 2002 halted plans. Sporadic shows followed\, including a 2012 live video revisiting Schubert Dip and Stigma. \nIn 2020\, EMF truly reignited with the 30th-anniversary box set From Us to You. Renewed inspiration led to Go Go Sapiens (2022) and the acclaimed The Beauty and the Chaos (2024)\, solidifying their modern resurgence. \nIn 2025\, a blue plaque in Cinderford honoured their legacy — a symbol of the pride they bring to the Forest of Dean. Now\, EMF are not just back\, they’re thriving. Still creating\, still touring\, and still charged with the same life-affirming energy that made them unforgettable.

SUMMARY:Livewire AC/DC
DESCRIPTION:AC/DC\, arguably the greatest rock band of all time\, are brought to life by Live/Wire with the true passion you would expect from professional musicians who share your love of this legendary live act. They deliver a critically acclaimed High Voltage two hour rock ’n’ roll set with not only cannons and a full bank of Marshall amps but a journey that takes fans from one of the best-selling albums of all time ‘Back in Black’ through to the 2020 release ‘PWR UP’\, with a healthy dose of the classics from the Bon Scott era. \nLive/Wire combines the vocal power of Podge Blacksmith as Brian Johnson\, the virtuoso talent of Simon Davies as Angus Young and metronome-like accuracy of Dan Mosley as Malcolm Young. The line-up is completed by Eddie Clark as long time bassist Cliff Williams and James Last providing the Phil Rudd like groove from behind the kit. \nNow in their 28th year\, Live/Wire put the audience right in the middle of a live experience comparable to that only AC/DC themselves produce. We invite AC/DC fans to join us\, sing with us and relive some of those classic AC/DC concerts of the past on our very own Highway to Hell.

SUMMARY:China Crisis
DESCRIPTION:The early 1980s saw a second Liverpool music renaissance\, with China Crisis emerging in 1981 from Kirkby as the songwriting duo Gary Daly (vocals/keyboards) and Eddie Lundon (guitar/vocals). Influenced by Bowie\, Stevie Wonder\, Eric Satie and Brian Eno\, they quickly developed a unique sound—blending synthpop with reggae\, country\, horns\, strings\, and more—working with producers like Mike Howlett\, Langer/Winstanley and Steely Dan’s Walter Becker. \nThe band achieved three UK Top 40 albums and eleven UK Top 50 singles\, including “Wishful Thinking\,” “Christian\,” “Black Man Ray\,” and “King in a Catholic Style\,” while building a loyal fanbase that endures today. Their music continues to reach new audiences\, sampled by artists like French Montana and Action Bronson\, and featured in films and TV such as Gone Girl and Sex Education. \nChina Crisis have toured worldwide for over four decades. Their 2015 fan-funded album Autumn in the Neighbourhood marked a celebrated return to form and will be relaunched in 2025. In 2024\, they released China Greatness\, a reimagined collection of songs from their 42-year catalogue\, produced with Grammy-winner Mark Phythian and featuring new orchestral arrangements\, earning their highest-ever chart position at No. 5 on the UK Vinyl Album Chart. \nRenowned for engaging live shows that mix music with trademark Scouse humour\, China Crisis remain a cherished and relevant band\, still connecting with fans old and new.

SUMMARY:The Bob Villains – Live At The Tree House
DESCRIPTION:In 1966\, Bob Dylan toured the UK. Each night began with a solo acoustic set\, before Dylan returned to the stage backed by a full electric band. Some in the audience loved the change; others did not. At the Free Trade Hall in Manchester\, one voice rang out above the rest\, famously shouting “Judas!” Dylan’s response was immediate and legendary: “I don’t believe you!”\,  before instructing the band to play louder. \nExactly years to the day\, The Bob Villains mark this iconic moment in music history\, with a special show at The Tree House\, Frome. This is truly one not to miss. \nCovering Dylan’s career from his early 1960s acoustic work\, through the electric years and his many stylistic reinventions\, The Bob Villains have spent over a decade presenting his music with the respect and depth it deserves. These five musicians capture the spirit\, power\, and poetry of Dylan’s songs without gimmicks or imitation. \nTheir extensive repertoire includes favourites such as Mr Tambourine Man\, All Along the Watchtower\, Forever Young\, Like a Rolling Stone\, Hurricane\, One More Cup of Coffee\, Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door\, Quinn the Eskimo\, Lay Lady Lay and You’re a Big Girl Now\, alongside deeper cuts from the Dylan songbook including It’s Alright Ma (I’m Only Bleeding)\, Chimes of Freedom and Silvio. \nThis year also marks 60 years since the release of the iconic double album Blonde on Blonde\, with a selection of songs from that record featured in the show. \nWith Dylan still touring in his 80s\, we are proud to celebrate the man and his music. The Bob Villains are a tribute\, not a tribute act\, no wigs\, no funny voices\, just 100% Bob Dylan’s music\, played with passion and authenticity. \nFor more information\, photos and videos\, visit\nwww.thebobvillains.com \n“Truly amazing – when you closed your eyes it could have been Bob singing.” \n“This band interprets the music with an obvious deep respect for the source material.” \n“Thanks for an amazing night. I’ll make sure I see you again in the not-too-distant future.” \nPlease note this is an 18+ all standing event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift. SUMMARY:The Puppini Sisters
DESCRIPTION:The queens of vocal harmony are throwing a massive birthday party to celebrate their 20th anniversary\, you are invited to The Puppini Sisters’ birthday tour! \n“Swingpunk” – Financial Times \n“Fabulous” – Vogue \n“…immaculate harmonies… weaving past and present so deftly…” – The Times \nClose harmonies\, corsets\, and clever covers. From festival stages to royal soirées\, The Puppini Sisters have dazzled the world with their retro-glam style and genre-bending swing since 2004. \nFormed by Bologna-born Marcella Puppini at London’s Trinity College of Music\, the trio burst onto the scene with Betcha Bottom Dollar (2006) — the fastest-selling jazz debut in UK chart history. Their sassy swing take on everything from Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy to Heart of Glass won over fans from Michael Bublé to King Charles. \nAs streaming and “antique pop” exploded\, their influence was undeniable. “A lot of acts credited us\,” says Marcella. “But our focus has always been on performing live.” \nTheir signature style — part Vivienne Westwood\, part burlesque — helped spark the vintage revival. “Corsets were essential\,” laughs Marcella. “We could see vintage booming\, but even I didn’t expect it to get this big.” \nNow celebrating 20 years\, Marcella and original Sister Kate Mullins reunite with early member Rosanna Schura for a new album mixing originals and playful covers. “It’s our party\,” says Marcella. “Even Happy Birthday gets the Puppini twist — waltz\, country-swing\, and a nod to Stevie Wonder and 50 Cent.” \nHighlights include Take the A Train\, Take Five\, and the long-awaited recording of Parole Parole. New originals like Hey Sister and Postcards from the Road celebrate two decades of wild adventures — from Russian high-society gigs to royal encounters and LA sessions with Bublé. \n“We’ve never cared about trends\,” says Marcella. “We’re women in charge\, making the music we love. Here’s to the next 20 years.”

SUMMARY:Straighten Out – Stranglers tribute live at The Tree House
DESCRIPTION:STRAIGHTEN OUT are the world’s premier Stranglers tribute band with an extensive set-list that spans two solid hours as they re-create the ‘early years’ sound of The Stranglers\, complete with a Hammond organ and Minimoog synth; the same models used by Mr. Greenfield himself\, back in the day! \nThe growling bass sound and the quirky guitar riffs are all there to be heard as is the dual vocal ‘attack’ from the two frontmen a-la Burnel/Cornwell as they rip through the Stranglers’ classic: ‘Peaches’\, ‘Hanging Around’\, ‘No More Heroes’\, ‘5 Minutes’\, ‘The Raven’\, ‘Walk On By’\, ‘Straighten Out’\, ‘Down In The Sewer’ and many more as they cover the Stranglers’ early classic albums and beyond. \nStraighten Out will take you on a nostalgia trip that transports you back to those raw\, powerful\, exhilarating times when The Stranglers emerged through the quagmire of mediocrity to produce some of the finest music ever written. Straighten Out will put you back in that place! \nBassist Shaggy and keyboard player Mick (‘The Doc’) were together in previous Stranglers tribute band ‘Four More Heroes’ and it was only natural that these two continued on after their demise to form ‘Straighten Out’ given their love of Stranglers music and the desire to keep playing live. They set the platform with the growling bass and swirling keyboard sound so essential to reproducing the authentic Stranglers sound. Joining them are Jet ‘Beets’ Beety on drums and Phil Harvey steps up to give you the ‘Hugh’ element to complete the fearsome foursome. \nStraighten Out are a must-see tribute band! \nPlease note this is an 18+ all-standing event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift.
