DESCRIPTION:Learn how to safely identify & sustainably grow\, harvest & preserve medicinal mushrooms & extract their medicine. Create your own wild mushroom ‘medicine cabinet’ and inoculate your own log to take home & fruit in your garden for years to come. \nDuring this full-day workshop\, you’ll discover native\, wild\, medicinal mushrooms growing at 42 Acres and in the local southwest area. \nFor the first half of the day\, you’ll be heading out on a guided foraging walk; illuminating the incredible world of medicinal fungi that we commonly walk past. You’ll learn the key features needed to safely identify each mushroom and where each is commonly found. \nIn the afternoon you will be creating your own wild mushroom ‘medicine cabinet.’ You will learn how to safely preserve your mushrooms and extract their medicine for use all year round\, in yours and your loved ones lives – for a host of illness and preventative uses. This medicine is often very expensive and our shared vision is to support you to be able to do it yourself safely. Our intention is for you to feel empowered to harvest your own mushroom medicine cabinet and grow your own medicinal mushrooms. \nYou will also learn the ancient technique of mushroom inoculation – a highly sustainable method that mimics nature and produces mushrooms dense in nutrients that are hard to find from other food sources. Take home your own inoculated log – where it will fruit in your garden for years to come. \nWhat to expect: \nLearn about the properties of Turkey Tail\, Shiitake\, Lions Mane and Artist Conk\, most of which are native strains to the UK and cultivated from the wild here at 42 Acres.\nBe guided through the basics of drying and making tinctures.\nLearn the technique of mushroom inoculation – the world’s oldest recorded farming method.\nLearn more about 42 Acres’ wild-tending principles and our pioneering agriwilding projects. \nWhat is included: \nThis workshop includes a tasty lunch from our “Soil to Gut” menu – you will eat food grown on the land you’re walking. Wild teas will be provided throughout the session. \nOur session will open with a guided meditation and a check-in\, in the spirit of our vision to help ourselves attune to living in harmony with nature. We believe that connecting in this way encourages deeper connection and mindful working practices\, for both us and the land. \nThis is a unique and hands-on day ideal for any fungi lover or wild medicine cabinet enthusiast!

Along the way\, Celie will share practical photography and storytelling techniques to help you notice more\, see differently and give you confidence to take better photos. \nThis walk is not about about making perfect photos but more about the joy of looking\, practising observation while being present in nature and giving yourself space to switch off from the everyday. \nWhether you’re an experienced photographer or simply enjoy taking photos on your phone\, come and fill your creative cup\, connect with nature and meet others seeking a slower pace of life. \nWhat to expect: \nMeet at the visitor car park at Heal Somerset where you will be directed to our community nature barn for a welcome and introduction with Celie\nGet into a relaxed and inspired headspace through a short grounding exercise\nBe guided through techniques to observe your surroundings with more intention\nLearn what to pay special attention to when taking photos\, with insight into storytelling and technical processes\nYou’ll have the opportunity to ask Celie any questions as you go and she will offer 1:1 photography support\nThe group will finish by chatting about our experience and learnings over a cup of tea\, and share the images we made (if we’d like to!) \nAbout your guide\, Celie Nigoumi \nCelie is an artist and facilitator who finds peace and inspiration when taking her camera on gentle walks in nature. Based in Somerset\, she works across the UK as a story-led Photographer for purposeful brands and organisations. Her practice is greatly influenced by the rhythm of nature and her mindful photowalks support others to slow down and re-connect with themselves and fellow creative folk in the outdoors.

We’re restoring ecosystems and discovering that\, as we heal the land\, we heal ourselves too. Gather around the fire\, an elemental ritual as old as time. A welcome drink of mulled apple juice lands you in this time and place\, these apples were grown just a few steps away. We’ll host a fireside experience designed to bring your team into deeper connection. \n11am: Choose your Wild Experience for your team\, designed to cultivate a deeper sense of belonging\, both with each other and with the natural world. \nWild Winter Crafting: Settle beside a roaring fire and work with natural materials from the land\, slowing down and making something together* \nFuture Orchard Grafting: Learn the ancient art of grafting and help create an apple orchard\, an environmental contribution has a life well beyond the day itself* \n1pm: Gather around a long\, shared table for Wild Winter Lunch\, served family-style and rooted in the land around you. \n3pm: Head home feeling nourished and connected. \n£95 per person \n—\n*Future Orchard Grafting \nLearn the ancient skill of grafting as your team creates a fledgling apple orchard. Take cuttings from our existing apple trees and graft them onto rootstock\, creating dozens of young fruit trees. \nThis hands-on experience builds practical skills\, encourages collaboration\, and connects to food resilience. These trees will continue to grow\, creating a living legacy for your team. \nWe invite you to name the orchard\, adding it to our map and official records. You’re welcome to revisit to plant out your trees\, and eventually picnic under their boughs. \nIndoors & Outdoors\, Moderate Effort \n*Wild Winter Crafting \nTry your hand at wild crafting by a roaring fire.
