SUMMARY:Morning Chorus Bird Walk with Rob Frith
DESCRIPTION:Morning Chorus Bird Walk with Rob Frith\nJoin us for a relaxed and informative morning at Vallis Farm\, timed to coincide with the early bird activity without the pre-dawn start. \nWe’ll meet at 7:30am at the farmhouse entrance. After a hot drink to get us going\, we’ll head out on a guided walk around the farm with ecologist and bird expert Rob Frith\, exploring the land and listening to the morning chorus as it builds. \nRob will help us identify the birds we hear (and hopefully see)\, explain what’s happening ecologically at this time of year\, and share insights into how the farm supports wildlife. With a bit of luck\, we may also spot barn owls that regularly hunt over the fields. \nAfter the walk\, we’ll return to the farmhouse for a cooked breakfast made with locally sourced ingredients\, including eggs from our rescue hens. We’ll eat together around the table\, with time to ask Rob questions and chat more broadly about birds\, farming\, and the wider landscape. \nThe morning will wrap up at 10:30\, leaving you well fed\, well informed and hopefully feeling a little more connected to the land around you. \nThis is one of two Morning Chorus Bird Walks. 10th April and 24th April \nCost: £28 per person \nA thoughtful\, unhurried way to start the day\, for anyone curious about birds\, ecology\, and the rhythms of a working farm. \nAnd why not extend your experience by spending the night in one of our Shepherd’s Huts?

DESCRIPTION:Wild Circle is a women’s group in nature -women sharing honest conversation around a fire\, in a beautiful garden setting.\nNo pressure or expectation\, just a warm welcome and a gentle invitation to take a pause from everyday life and create a little breathing space. \n“Tara made me feel very welcome and relaxed\, I felt completely at ease. I would highly recommend.” -Jo- \n“It was just what I wanted\, a real ‘firebreak’ in a busy life. Thank you for allowing us to develop what we did in our own way\, whilst gently guiding and holding the session. SUMMARY:Leaning Into ADHD: A Warm\, Strengths-Based Path for Adults & Parents
DESCRIPTION:Living with ADHD – or loving someone who has it – can feel exhausting. Many adults and parents spend years trying to stay one step ahead of it: correcting\, compensating\, pushing harder\, or quietly wondering why everyday life seems to take so much effort. This workshop offers a gentler\, more supportive way forward. \nInstead of trying to outrun ADHD\, we’ll explore what it means to slow down\, understand it\, and lean into it – with curiosity\, compassion\, and respect for how ADHD brains are wired. \nThis workshop with new exercises every month is designed for adults with ADHD and parents raising children with ADHD\, and it recognises that ADHD shows up differently at every age\, yet carries many of the same emotional experiences: frustration\, overwhelm\, shame\, and also creativity\, empathy\, humour\, and resilience. Together\, we’ll look at ADHD not as something that needs to be fixed\, but as a difference that benefits from the right kind of support. \nThrough stories\, reflection\, and practical reframes\, participants will learn how many ADHD challenges are not signs of failure\, but signals – cues that the environment\, expectations\, or supports need adjusting. We’ll focus on creating spaces where ADHD strengths can show up more easily\, and where both adults and children feel understood rather than constantly corrected. \nThis workshop also makes room for the emotional side of ADHD – the grief\, the worry\, the self-doubt\, and the deep desire to “get it right.” Parents and adults alike will be invited to replace pressure with partnership\, and criticism with connection. \nIn This Workshop\, You Can Expect To: \nFeel seen\, understood\, and less alone \nLearn a compassionate\, strengths-based way to understand ADHD \nDiscover how ADHD traits can be supported rather than suppressed \nExplore ways to reduce daily friction at home\, school\, and work \nBuild language that nurtures confidence instead of shame \nPractice responding with curiosity – to yourself and to your child \nWho This Workshop Is For: \nAdults living with ADHD (diagnosed or self-identified) \nParents and caregivers of children or teens with ADHD \nParents who recognise ADHD traits in themselves through their child \nAnyone wanting a more creative and hopeful way to support ADHD brains \nThings to bring/materials required: No equipment needed. Please come as you are \nDate of event: Monday\, 13 April 2026 \nTime: 9.30 am-11.30 am \nCost: £15 \nNo of places 10 \nWe never want cost to prevent anyone from attending our events\, so please reach out to the class practitioner if you require a subsidised ticket \nBiography: \nHi\, I’m Xanthe — an accredited ADHD coach (ADDCA) with a background in working alongside both adults and young people since 1998. \nI work with clients of all ages\, offering coaching that’s grounded in experience\, empathy\, and neurodivergent insight. As a late-diagnosed neurodivergent adult (ADHD and Autism)\, I understand the value of creating spaces that are compassionate\, understanding\, and above all — celebratory of the unique ways our minds work. \nFor more information\, please reach out to me or check out my website at www.squigglyminds.co.uk

SUMMARY:Slow Sunday at 42 Acres
DESCRIPTION:Spend a slow Sunday afternoon at 42 Acres and reconnect with nature\, with each other\, and with the elements.\nCome as you are and spend a relaxed Sunday of outdoor vibes. Gather in our forest glade for our signature vegetarian wild dining experience. Your meal will be cooked over an open fire with nourishing ingredients organically-grown and wild-foraged on this land.\nGo for a wild swim in the beaver-filled lake\, and relax in the wood-fired sauna. Or simply take time and space to rest and restore on land that has been allowed to do the same. \nYou’re welcome to do as much or as little as you like:\n– Roam the 173 acres of our land – home to millions of lives.\n– Wild swim in our 7-acre lake or take out our rowboat\, SUP board\, or canoe. (Please note these activities are at your own risk – there is no lifeguard).\n– Look out for beaver\, otter\, wild boar\, hare\, deer and a multitude of birds.\n– Explore our rewilded spaces; woodland mushroom farm; permaculture garden; edible ornamental walled garden; species re-introduction projects; and secret treehouse. Or just chill and chat.\n– Add on a holistic treatment (advance bookings only) \nSlow Sundays run from 11am-4pm on the following dates:\n– Sun 5 Apr 2026 (Easter Sunday)\n– Sun 3 May\n– Sun 28 Jun\n– Sun 19 Jul\n– Sun 30 Aug (Bank holiday weekend)\n– Sun 20 Sep \nFeedback from Past Slow Sundays:\n‘I took some proper time out today. Slow Sundays at 42 Acres Retreat are all about connection – with yourself\, with others\, and with nature.\nWild swimming\, a wood-fired sauna\, woodland walks\, and incredible food grown on the land itself – all shared around a long table in the woods\, with birdsong overhead and an eclectic mix of people from all walks of life. It’s a really well-thought-out setup. Simple\, but intentional. The team were welcoming\, knowledgeable (beavers\, storks\, permaculture\, mushroom farms\, soil-to-gut) and clearly passionate about what they’re building. This was their first Slow Sunday- here’s to many more!’\nLynda\, Slow Sunday Guest\, June 2025. \n‘A group of 6 of us attended 42Acres Slow Sunday and we all throughly enjoyed ourselves. The land is beautiful\, with lots of lovely quiet trails to walk and soak it all up. We even spotted storks\, buzzards and believe we may have accidentally bumped into a wild boar too. The setting for lunch is fabulous. Really cosy atmosphere and delicious food. Some of us even jumped in the lake for a quick swim which was really refreshing.’\nLucy\, Slow Sunday Guest\, August 2025 \n‘Beautiful experience of reconnection to people\, place and soul.’\nSara\, Slow Sunday Guest\, August 2025. \nPlease Note:\n– Must be booked in advance. SUMMARY:The Grief Opera
DESCRIPTION:An extraordinary journey from shock and pain to profound love\, the Grief Opera may be the most emotional show you see this year. \nWhen rock musician George Linacre died by suicide\, his father Nigel started to write.  And Vladimir Miller\, a contemporary music band leader\, began composing using George’s bass rhythms. Together\, they created the Grief Opera. \nAn extraordinary journey from shock and pain to profound love\, the Grief Opera may be the most emotional show you see this year. The Grief Opera shines a spotlight on suicide\, the most common cause of death in young men\, and the consequent\, harrowing grief. Its creators hope it will enable people to have potentially life-saving conversations and to work with their grief. Mr. Miller lost a band member to suicide earlier in his career. \nAn opera\, concert and musical rolled into one\, it fuses haunting melodies and quirky jazz.

SUMMARY:A Kinder Way to Well: Bringing Compassion Back to Self-Care
DESCRIPTION:An interactive workshop inviting you to rethink self-care through kindness\, compassion\, and a more human understanding of wellbeing. \nSelf-care is meant to help us feel better. Yet for many of us\, it has increasingly become another area of pressure\, something we should be doing “properly\,” keeping up with\, or fixing ourselves through. \nThis interactive workshop offers a different way in. \nLed by wellbeing writer\, podcaster and coach Claire Fitzsimmons\, this session invites you to explore what wellbeing looks like when it’s rooted in kindness\, compassion\, and curiosity rather than self-improvement or constant striving. Instead of asking what needs to change\, we’ll gently explore what needs care. \nThrough guided reflection\, conversation\, and simple\, accessible exercises\, you’ll be supported to rethink your relationship with self-care itself\, widening it beyond routines\, rules\, or trends\, and reconnecting it to the very real experience of being a person in the world today. \nThis workshop is for anyone who feels overwhelmed by wellbeing advice\, disconnected from themselves\, or just unsure whether the way they’ve been taught to “look after themselves” actually works for them. \nYou’ll leave with: \n\n\nA more compassionate understanding of what self-care can be \n\n\nGreater clarity about what supports your emotional and mental wellbeing \n\n\nReflections and ideas you can return to in everyday life \n\n\nA sense of self-trust that doesn’t rely on doing more or being better \n\n\nAs part of the Frome Kindness Festival\, this workshop explores kindness as something we can practise inwardly as well as outwardly. Because extending kindness to ourselves isn’t indulgent or selfish\, it’s often the foundation that allows us to meet the world\, and each other\, with more care. \n  \nABOUT CLAIRE FITZIMMONS \nClaire Fitzsimmons is the co-founder of If Lost\, Start Here\, a Somerset-based wellbeing company on a mission to help people get to a better place. As an ICF Associate Certified Coach and a certified emotions coaching practitioner\, Claire works with women navigating change\, burnout\, emotional overwhelm or simply a sense of feeling stuck. Her coaching sessions help people untangle what they’re feeling\, find clarity\, and build a sustainable wellbeing practice that fits who they are now. \nClaire’s writing on mental health\, emotions and midlife wellbeing has appeared in Happiful\, Breathe\, The Simple Things\, and others. She’s also been included in features in Stylist\, Red\, and Psychologies. \nClaire is the host of the podcast A Thought I Kept. Each week she speaks with guests from across creative\, academic\, business and wellbeing fields about the ideas that last a lifetime \nClaire was also Regional Finalist for Best Wellbeing Specialist in Dorset\, Somerset & Bristol for The Muddy Stilettos Awards 2025
