SUMMARY:5 Springs Pilgrimage
DESCRIPTION:Nestled in the valley beneath Bratton Camp\, once home to the Iron Age Dubonni tribe\, a number of springs issue forth from the chalk and greensand. What significance might these springs have held to the Celtic tribes? \nDrawing on archaeological research\, this will be an exploration of the sacred landscape. We will walk in the footsteps of those Celtic ancestors\, and echoing their veneration of Springs and Rivers – a recognition of the sacred power of water\, we’ll perform a short blessing at each Spring. \nWhat is the difference between a Walk and a Pilgrimage? Primarily\, it is about intention: walking the old tracks becomes a spiritual act when walked with intention – by doing so we help to preserve and strengthen those ancient songlines…….the Earth re-awakens to our heartfelt care\, and we are healed in return. \nWhilst led by an experienced Druid Ceremonialist\, this is an inclusive walk\, welcoming of all faiths and none. If you wish to step aside and quietly observe the Blessings rather than take part\, please feel free to do so… \nWe’ll also visit the infamous Bloodstone\, where it’s reputed Kind Alfred’s army beheaded the Danes at the Battle of Ethandun. If time\, there is the option to visit Edington Priory.

SUMMARY:Wet\, Wet\, Wet: Beaver and Human Wetlands of Heal Somerset
DESCRIPTION:Discover how humans and beavers are joining forces to restore vibrant wetland ecosystems at Heal Somerset. On this guided walk and talk with rewilding ranger Daniel Hill\, you will experience first-hand these developing wetlands and learn how dams\, ponds\, scrapes and more can shape water movement\, biodiversity\, and habitat recovery. Together you will explore how beaver activity and human intervention can complement each other to create healthier habitats\, cleaner water\, and climate-resilient ecosystems. \nAbout Daniel Hill \nAs the Rewilding Ranger at Heal Somerset\, Dan manages the site’s monitoring and land management programs. You can find him surveying for signs of beavers\, co-ordinating volunteer work parties\, or working with partners to deliver the hydrological restoration plan\, amongst a huge variety of other tasks. Dan’s passion for nature was sparked as a child growing up on an organic small holding in rural south Wales watching red kites soar above. His love of rewilding developed through volunteering with the RSPB on the Somerset Levels after completing a degree in Mathematical Sciences.

DESCRIPTION:Autumn is a time of movement and change in the bird world. Migrants arrive from the north to spend the winter here\, while summer visitors begin their journeys south. Hedgerows are alive with activity as birds feast on the season’s berries\, and grasslands and wetlands provide vital feeding grounds for both resident and passing species. \nJoin expert wildlife guide Nick Patel for a guided walk through the evolving habitats of Heal Somerset\, focusing on the rich and dynamic world of autumn birdlife. During this relaxed walk\, Nick will help you identify birds by sight and sound\, offering insights into plumage changes\, migration patterns\, and the different behaviours you are likely to observe at this time of year. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced birder\, you’ll come away with fresh skills and a deeper understanding of how birds adapt to the turning season. \nYou’ll also have the chance to learn more about how rewilding at Heal Somerset is creating safe havens for birdlife\, and how these habitats support biodiversity through the colder months. \nWhat you might see: redwing\, spotted flycatcher\, long tailed tit\, bullfinch\, stonechat\, blackcap\, goldcrest\, meadow pipit\, yellow wagtail\, green sandpiper\, snipe\, lapwing. \nAbout your guide\, Nick Patel: \nNick is a tour guide\, conservationist\, naturalist and birder and is passionate about helping to protect\, create and maintain British wildlife.
