SUMMARY:NT Live: The Audience
DESCRIPTION:Returning to cinemas for the first time in over a decade\, Helen Mirren plays Queen Elizabeth II in the Olivier and Tony Award®-winning hit production\, directed by Stephen Daldry. \nFor 60 years\, Queen Elizabeth II met with each of her 12 prime ministers in a private weekly meeting. This meeting is known as The Audience. From Winston Churchill to Margaret Thatcher and David Cameron\, the Queen advised her prime ministers on matters both public and personal. Through these private audiences\, we see glimpses of the woman behind the crown and witness the moments that shaped a monarch. \nPeter Morgan’s Netflix phenomenon The Crown was based on this hit play that was captured live from London’s West End in 2013 and went on to become one of the most-watched NT Live productions.

SUMMARY:Power Film: Power Station
DESCRIPTION:POWER STATION is a bold\, funny and heartwarming documentary about what happens when neighbours come together to take power – quite literally – into their own hands. Set in Walthamstow\, the film follows artists Hilary Powell and Dan Edelstyn as they attempt to turn their street into a solar-powered energy station\, kickstarting a grassroots energy revolution inspired by lockdown mutual aid. \nDirected by the duo\, the film captures a turbulent journey filled with big ideas\, setbacks and unexpected moments of joy – from rooftop campouts and community meetings to fundraising challenges and a surprise bid for a Christmas number one single. At its heart\, POWER STATION is a celebration of local action\, shared ambition and the belief that change can start right outside your front door. \nFollowing the screening\, audiences are invited to stay for a Q&A panel exploring the themes of the film and what community energy\, creativity and collaboration could look like in Frome. \nMatt Mellen\, Climate Action Lead at Frome Town Council\, said: “POWER STATION captures something really special – the moment when ordinary people decide to work together and imagine something better. Frome has a proud history of community-led action\, and this film is a timely reminder of how imagination and collective effort can help shape a more sustainable future.” \nThis event forms part of Frome Town Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting community-led responses to the climate and ecological emergency\, while creating welcoming spaces for conversation\, inspiration and connection.

SUMMARY:Future Council Screening and Q&A with Frome Youth Climate Action
DESCRIPTION:A film by Damon Gameau. Eight kids go on a trip across Europe to challenge powerful leaders and find solutions to our ecological challenges\nFuture Council\, (PG) directed by Damon Gameau (known for 2040 and That Sugar Film)\, follows eight children on a biofuel-powered road trip across Europe as they challenge powerful leaders and seek solutions to ecological crises. The film celebrates youth leadership and imagines a future shaped by hope\, courage\, and collective action — a perfect companion to the message of Plastic Bones. \nThis follows on from the earlier procession led by Frome Youth Climate Action group\, a dynamic group of young environmental activists aged 12 to 18\, who carried ‘Plastic Bones’ through the town – a handmade globe sculpture created from rubbish collected on local streets along with natural and recycled materials – symbolising the heavy burden of plastic pollution on our planet and the vital role of young people play in holding up its future.

SUMMARY:Royal Ballet: Giselle
DESCRIPTION:The peasant girl Giselle has fallen in love with Albrecht. When she discovers that he is actually a nobleman promised to another\, she kills herself in despair. Her spirit joins the Wilis: the vengeful ghosts of women hell-bent on killing any man who crosses their path in a dance to the death. Wracked with guilt\, Albrecht visits Giselle’s grave\, where he must face the Wilis – and Giselle’s ghost. \nPeter Wright’s 1985 production of this quintessential Romantic ballet is a classic of The Royal Ballet repertory. Set to Adolphe Adam’s evocative score and with atmospheric designs by John Macfarlane\, Giselle conjures up the earthly and otherworldly realms in a tale of love\, betrayal and redemption.

SUMMARY:Menkind video screening
DESCRIPTION:Another chance to see a short video with men in Frome talking about what kindness means to them\, followed by discussion. For men only. \nSometimes kindness can be perceived as a feminine virtue and we set out to challenge this by asking six men in Frome what kindness means to them. The results are surprising and highlight that “kindness” can take many forms and may be called by other names. Last year’s screening to a packed room in The Crown led to an amazing group dialogue in which men shared stories about unexpected act of kindness they had experienced. This is another chance to see the film and hopefully be part of a similar conversation between men.

SUMMARY:Royal Opera: Siegfried
DESCRIPTION:Raised by a scheming dwarf and unaware of his true family origins\, a young man embarks on an epic journey. Soon\, destiny brings him face-to-face with a shattered sword\, a fearsome dragon and the cursed ring it guards\, and a Valkyrie forced into enchanted slumber… \nMoments of transcendent beauty and heroic triumph sparkle in the third chapter of Wagner’s Ring cycle\, brought to life under Barrie Kosky’s inspired eye following his spectacular Das Rheingold (2023) and Die Walküre (2025). Andreas Schager\, in his much-anticipated debut with The Royal Opera\, stars as Siegfried’s titular hero\, alongside Christopher Maltman’s towering Wanderer\, Peter Hoare’s treacherous Mime and Elisabet Strid’s radiant Brünnhilde. Antonio Pappano conducts\, drawing out the unspoken tensions and ethereal mysticism of Wagner’s dynamic score.

DESCRIPTION:Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Hard Truths) feature in a five-star\, triumphantly acclaimed new production of Arthur Miller’s classic play\, from visionary director Ivo Van Hove (A View from the Bridge). \nOne family\, the heart of the American dream. When wartime delivers profits for Joe\, it comes at a price when his partner is charged with criminal manufacturing deals\, and his eldest son goes missing in action.
