DESCRIPTION:This youth club is suitable for those aged 12 – 14. \nJoin us for an afterschool club where you can plant trees\, build fires\, cook food grown you’ve harvested from the ground and go dipping for frogs and newts in the pond. Or if you’d prefer to play manhunt in the forest garden? You can do that too. This is a group for anyone who wants to spend more time outdoors\, maybe learning about nature if that’s your thing\, but no pressure. As long as you’re yourself\, that’s what counts. We want EVERYBODY OUTDOORS! \nWe have some spaces available at a reduced rate for those on a low wage and are reserving limited spaces for free to enable this to be for everyone for real so if your child wants this but you can’t make it happen\, then maybe we can. Just get in touch: tamsin@vallisfarm.co.uk \nSessions run from 4pm-5.30 on Tuesdays during term time and must be booked in blocks of half terms. First one of the summer term is 9th June and the last will be the 14th July. No one offs\, sorry.

DESCRIPTION:This youth club is suitable for those aged 14 – 16. \nJoin us at the farm for fire building\, pond dipping\, tree planting\, creating wildlife habitats\, checking for snakes (yes\, we have snakes) or whatever you want to do that day. If the sun is shining and you want just enjoy it then do! If you want to hang out in the orchard with the sheep\, building dens and bug hotels we can do that too. \nThis is a place where you get to decide. The important thing is to be outdoors\, enjoying time together. \nWe meet every Wednesday during term time 5-6.30pm. We can only accept bookings for a term at a time. This term starts on Wednesday 10th June and the last session is on Wednesday 15th July. There are seven sessions in the summer term. Sorry\, no one off bookings. \nWe do however\, want EVERYBODY OUTDOORS so we have limited spaces available at a discount for those on a low wage. SUMMARY:Rewilding in Action: A Tour of Heal Somerset with Heal Co-Founder Jan Stannard
DESCRIPTION:Come along and learn more about nature-led recovery at Heal’s first rewilding site\, Heal Somerset.\nHeal Somerset began its recovery from its ecologically depleted state at the beginning of 2023 and nature here is already beginning to bounce back. This tour is a unique opportunity to spend time with Heal’s co-founder and acting CEO\, Jan Stannard\, who will take you around part of our beautiful site on mown paths. \nYou will learn more around the wider context of rewilding\, including the reasons we need it and the benefits it brings to nature\, the climate and to our own wellbeing. Jan will talk about the rewilding principles that Heal follows and give you an insight into some of our plans for the land\, particularly the interventions we’re considering and our plans for future livestock introductions. The group will also hear about some of the changes we have seen on the site already\, including the very welcome appearance of wild-living beavers. \nYou will also hopefully experience some of the varied wildlife we have on site\, but even if the creatures are elusive on the day\, we know you will still find the site a beautiful\, peaceful and restorative place to be. \nYour tour will finish with refreshments in our 17th century farmhouse where conversations about rewilding and Heal can continue.

Gather in our forest glade for our signature vegetarian wild dining experience. Your meal will be cooked over an open fire with nourishing ingredients organically-grown and wild-foraged on this land.\nGo for a wild swim in the beaver-filled lake\, and relax in the wood-fired sauna. Or simply take time and space to rest and restore on land that has been allowed to do the same. \nYou’re welcome to do as much or as little as you like:\n– Roam the 173 acres of our land – home to millions of lives.\n– Wild swim in our 7-acre lake or take out our rowboat\, SUP board\, or canoe. (Please note these activities are at your own risk – there is no lifeguard).\n– Look out for beaver\, otter\, wild boar\, hare\, deer and a multitude of birds.\n– Explore our rewilded spaces; woodland mushroom farm; permaculture garden; edible ornamental walled garden; species re-introduction projects; and secret treehouse.
