SUMMARY:Permaculture Volunteer Day at 42 Acres
DESCRIPTION:An invitation to spend a half-day working with our team in our permaculture produce garden. Learn regenerative growing skills whilst actively contributing to our permaculture projects. \nThe day is designed to be an enriching experience working with us on tasks ranging from creating living willow structures to building hugelkultur beds\, from threshing quinoa to sowing and harvesting fruit and veg. There will be an opportunity for meditation\, sharing and nature connection. \nAt 1pm we will end with a simple shared lunch provided by 42 Acres (think nourishing soup and bread). Afterwards\, you’re welcome to stay and explore our land or take a wild dip in our lake. \nPlease Note: \n-These sessions run on the 1st Wed of every month\, Apr-Sep.\n-Booking opens 30 days in advance. It is not possible to book further ahead.\n-Gloves and wellies/good boots are necessary.\n-Lunch is provided.\n-No experience needed\, just a can-do attitude!\n-If you have issues with mobility please let us know before signing up\, we will do our best to accommodate.\n-These are working exchanges so please be prepared for this and arrive promptly.\n-We kindly invite you to come for the whole session to get the most out of the experience and cultivate good connections within the group.\n-Please speak with your licensed medical health professional if you have any health conditions or are pregnant.\n-As much as we love our four-legged friends\, we can not allow dogs on this experience. \nLocation & Arrival: \nPlease arrive 10 minutes before we begin. DESCRIPTION:Into The Light\, our two-day rewilding gathering at Heal Somerset\, will be back in June 2026 and the theme will be water – exploring and celebrating the rivers and wetlands in our landscapes from both a rewilding and a cultural perspective. \nWhether you’re already involved in rewilding or just beginning to explore how to support nature recovery\, this event is for you. Expect a welcoming\, hopeful experience with learning\, creativity and practical information. \nWhat to expect: \n– Inspiring talks and conversations with leading voices\n– A focus on terrestrial water systems and the wildlife that depends on them\n– A beautiful setting within our rewilding site where you will be immersed in nature\n– Plenty of time between talks and activities for catching up with old friends and making new connections \nConfirmed speakers include: \n– Minni Jain\, director\, The Flow Partnership\n– James Wallace\, chief executive\, River Action\n– Meg Avon\, poet\, activist\, performance artist\n– Eva Bishop\, environmentalist\n– James Aldridge\, artist and consultant\n– Stephen Rutt\, author and naturalist\n– Jack Perks\, wildlife cameraman and river conservationist\n– Jon Burgess\, chartered forester and resilience officer\, Forestry Commission\n– Daniel Hill\, rewilding ranger\, Heal Somerset\n– Josh Ashbee\, restoration specialist\n– With many more to be announced! \nFriday 5 June \nFriday is designed primarily for people involved in rewilding projects or working in ecology\, land management\, conservation\, policy and education\, as well as landowners\, students and anyone looking to explore rewilding in more detail. \nKey themes for Friday will include: \n– The health of our freshwater ecosystems\n– Rewilding-focused management of our river and wetland habitats\n– Wildlife found in those habitats\n– Habitat and species recovery \nSaturday 6 June \nSaturday is a day for sharing stories\, challenging ideas\, asking questions and celebrating the many ways people are making a difference for nature in their own places. \nOur water theme continues\, this time with more emphasis on our emotional\, historical and cultural connections to rivers and wetlands. Through talks\, workshops and shared experiences\, we’ll explore what these habitats mean to us and how they shape the communities around them. \nKey themes for Saturday will include: \n– Community-focused rewilding projects\n– The cultural and historical significance of water in our landscapes\n– Hopeful\, practical stories of nature recovery from around the UK\n– Connection\, celebration\, and collective action
