Just how I like my funk” – Craig Charles\, BBC 6 Music. \nIf you like crazy turntable skills\, and hands-in-the-air beats\, all mixed up with some classy crowd-rocking music\, then an Allergies double-decking DJ set will be right up your street. “We like breaks\, funky basslines\, horns\, and dancefloor grooves. We’re inspired by the golden eras of funk\, soul\, disco and hip-hop\, and we try and cram that into three and a half minutes”. \nThe duo of DJ Moneyshot and Rackabeat have been delighting dancefloors and lighting up the radio airwaves since forming The Allergies and releasing their debut album in 2016. \nYear in\, year out\, they’ve sharpened their skills on the turntables and in the studio\, dropping one dynamite record after another. \nTouring the world\, clocking up A List status and Album of the Day gongs at BBC Radio 6 Music\, as well as soundtracking international ad campaigns\, the pair show no sign of stopping the fun. \nAfter consecutive top 40 albums\, the boys just dropped number seven – Freak The Speaker. \nAs usual\, the Bristol-based beatmakers have assembled a crack team to help bring their loops to life. LA rap legend\, Andy Cooper (Ugly Duckling) is back on board\, alongside the mighty pipes of Marietta Smith (House Gospel Choir). And British sax institution\, James Morton – Also all staples of The Allergies live show act. \nPlus\, guest spots from some super special MCs and vocalists from both sides of The Pond including Brooklyn’s own hip-hop heavyweight\, Ohmega Watts. Mercury Prize winner\, Dynamite MC. Afro futurist\, K.O.G. Welsh rap talent\, Skunkadelic. And British hip-hop veteran\, Dr Syntax. \nIt continues to build on what first bonded the pair\, after meeting on the festival circuit – A love of funk and hip-hop\, and the great melting pot that makes up the music. \nMoneyshot had already made a name for himself as a resident on Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel radio. Gaining worldwide fame for his DJ mixes\, with Rolling Stone magazine ranking him in their ’25 Greatest Internet DJ Mixes of All Time’ feature. \nAnd Rackabeat\, a successful drum ’n’ bass producer\, had already banged out a string of releases\, including remixing dance music royalty like Groove Armada. \nMixing this keen ear for a sample\, and some polished studio know-how\, provided the perfect formula for The Allergies sound. Inspired by producers like Cut Chemist\, Public Enemy’s Bomb Squad\, and the kaleidoscopic sampledelica of acts like The Avalanches and vintage De La Soul\, they raid the past to make music for the future. \nClassic tracks from their back catalogue like ‘God Walked Down’\, ’Felony’ and ‘Every Trick In The Book’\, which continue to rack up tens of millions of plays\, are prime examples of The Allergies vision – To take dusty grooves from forgotten wax and pull out soulful hooks\, add hip-hop energy and driving drums\, to make something new and exciting that hits your heart\, as much as it does your dancing feet. \nPlease note this is an 18+ event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift.
