SUMMARY:Cast\, The La’s\, and Me – An Intimate Evening With John Power
DESCRIPTION:Fresh from supporting Oasis on their monumental return to stadiums this summer\, Cast frontman John Power is coming to Frome for an Intimate Evening With event. \nCast\, The La’s\, and Me – An Intimate Evening With Singer/Songwriter John Power \nCast’s John Power will return to intimate venues with his spoken word tour next spring. He’ll go back on the road with his Cast\, The La’s and Me tour – undoubtedly with some extra stories from this summer\, when Cast supports Oasis in their return to stadium rock. \nJohn had the best rock’n’roll apprenticeship ever – playing bass as an 18-year-old in The La’s. Forming Cast in 1991\, he sang\, wrote songs\, and played guitar for one of Britpop’s pre-eminent bands–securing two platinum-selling records before returning to the charts in 2024 with the magnificent Love Is The Call. \nJohn’s solo career produced some of his best work and through this summer\, Cast will join Oasis at their sell-out football stadium tour. \nHe said: “I had an absolute belter of a time on the road and can’t wait to go at it again; I am pretty sure I’ll have some great stories from the summer ahead\, as well as plenty of other from my career until now. See you there!” \nAfter a very busy 2025\, spring will once again\, give John time to reflect on Britpop\, the hits – Alright\, Sandstorm\, Walkaway\, Flying and more – in this intimate show that mixes his best-loved songs with wild\, funny\, and tender stories.

SUMMARY:The Grief Opera
DESCRIPTION:An extraordinary journey from shock and pain to profound love\, the Grief Opera may be the most emotional show you see this year. \nWhen rock musician George Linacre died by suicide\, his father Nigel started to write.  And Vladimir Miller\, a contemporary music band leader\, began composing using George’s bass rhythms. Together\, they created the Grief Opera. \nAn extraordinary journey from shock and pain to profound love\, the Grief Opera may be the most emotional show you see this year. The Grief Opera shines a spotlight on suicide\, the most common cause of death in young men\, and the consequent\, harrowing grief. Its creators hope it will enable people to have potentially life-saving conversations and to work with their grief. Mr. Miller lost a band member to suicide earlier in his career. \nAn opera\, concert and musical rolled into one\, it fuses haunting melodies and quirky jazz.

SUMMARY:Seize the Day
DESCRIPTION:“Bold\, Beautiful Frontline Folk” from the renowned southwest 7-piece combo\, with passionate\, anthemic songs to inspire us in our struggles for a kinder world. \nSeize The Day are an English acoustic band in the radical folk tradition\, who draw on global musical roots. They write songs about whatever needs to change or be defended in this world\, they sing to make you laugh about it\, cry about it\, dance about it – maybe even inspire you to imagine that you can DO something about it. \nSeize The Day came out of Britain’s Road Protest Movement in 1996\, when Theo and Shannon began playing together at the site of the Newbury Bypass in Southern England. Since then the line-up has expanded and gone through many incarnations\, with their sounds evolving along the way. \nThey play at major British festivals like Glastonbury\, as well as community venues across the country. But you’re just as likely to meet them at your nearest frontline protest or union picket line. Although they no longer fly abroad because of the CO2 emissions of air-travel\, they’ve previously toured in American towns and cities\, Indian farming villages\, Europe and Palestine. \n30 years experience has only strengthened their conviction that all lives are connected\, and kindness is the key to every heart\, even in the hardest of times. They sing to bring themselves and their audience back to this reality\, celebrating their victories and appreciating their connection with Mother Earth. This is your chance to chase away the shadows and re-connect with simple human kindness in these challenging times.

The single release ‘Golden’ from the album was show cased on many radio stations most notably on BBC 6 Music with Craig Charles a big advocate. Formed from the partnership of Bristol producer DJ Bunjy and MC Joe Peng\, two legends of the rave and proto-Jungle scenes\, the pair spent the 90’s causing havoc on dance floors in the biggest raves around the country\, performing for the era defining party brands and popping up on all the essential tape packs. \nBuilding on their successful rave wrecking partnership\, the pair began to look for a new musical direction and like many of Bristol’s most loved musical exports\, they drew inspiration from the melting pot that is Bristol music\, which of course has Reggae and Soundsystem culture at its core. What began as a studio project\, found them seeking out some of the most impressive musicians the city has to offer and Laid Blak was formed.

SUMMARY:The Phogues – St Patricks Celebration
DESCRIPTION:In the mid to late 1980s\, The Pogues were one of the wildest and most talked-about bands of the era. They crashed punk rock headlong into Irish Folk\, lyrically ignited by singer/songwriter Shane MacGowan’s brutal yet romantic observations on life at the dog end of the Thatcher revolution. Full of spirit\, in both senses of the word\, there was simply no other band like them. \nWith a full line-up and the pick of the songs from five studio albums\, The Phogues pay tribute to the greatest Irish band that Ireland never produced. Like the original\, the eight members of the Phogues come from all over the place. Also like the Pogues\, some have Irish heritage; others don’t. What unites them is supreme musical skill and a desire to honour Shane’s songs and the band that gave them to the world. \nThe Phogues have live experience ranging from Somerset’s famous cider pubs to the internationally famous Sidmouth Folk Festival. They bring verve\, energy and authenticity to every show they play\, backed up by songs including ‘Sally McLennane’\, ‘The Irish Rover’\, ‘Thousands Are Sailing’\, ‘Streams Of Whiskey’ and\, of course\, the greatest Christmas song ever written\, ‘Fairytale of New York’ – which they’ll happily play even on a boiling hot summer’s Afternoon. \nThe Phogues will sweep your audience back to the days when Guinness was 50p a pint\, the racing was on the telly in the corner of the boozer and there was always an ‘oul fella’ at the bar\, sharing his wit and wisdom. Happy\, raucous times brought right into the present by no less than the best Pogues tribute band in the UK. \nAnd if you don’t believe us\, Shane MacGowan himself said of The Phogues\, “It’s brilliant.” \nPogue Mahone!!

SUMMARY:Los Pacaminos ft. Paul Young
DESCRIPTION:Los Pacaminos is a Tex-Mex band that was formed by pop star Paul Young in 1992 during a break in his music career. The band originally consisted of six members\, including guitarist Jamie Moses\, accordion/keyboard player Matt Irving\, songwriter Drew Barfield\, bassist Steve Greetham\, and drummer Mark Pinder. They played their first gig at a local pub in Richmond in November of that year and continued to perform together\, growing tighter as friends and musicians with each show. \nAlthough the band was formed as a side project\, they started writing their own songs and it became clear that this was not going to be a short-term venture. In 1997\, pedal steel player Melvin Duffy was added to the lineup after a suggestion from Jamie\, and he quickly became a permanent member of the band. \nIn 2002\, Los Pacaminos released their first album\, which was a collection of 12 original songs that drew inspiration from their Tex-Mex influences\, including the Texas Tornados\, The Sir Douglas Quintet\, Flaco Jimenez\, as well as Ry Cooder\, Calexico\, Roy Orbison\, The Band and Chuck Berry. The album received positive reviews and helped to establish the band’s reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the Tex-Mex music scene. \nOver the years\, Los Pacaminos has faced some challenges\, including the loss of founder member Matt Irving to cancer in 2015. However\, the band continues to thrive and explore the music of the Southwest. Now together for over 30 years and with an unmatched live reputation\, as well as two acclaimed studio albums and two live albums to their name\, they are releasing their 3rd studio album of original songs. Los Pacaminos show nosigns of stopping anytime soon.

SUMMARY:The London African Gospel Choir (Graceland 40th Anniversary)
DESCRIPTION:THE LONDON AFRICAN GOSPEL CHOIR PERFORM PAUL SIMON’S ‘GRACELAND’ – *40TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW* \nThis 17 strong ensemble will be live\, delivering the Graceland album from start to finish. After coming across a bootleg cassette of South African township music in the early 80s\, Paul Simon was totally smitten by the infectious & irresistible rhythms. He travelled to Johannesburg\, spending two weeks there\, recording with the absolute cream of South African musicians. \nThat epic session\, went on to form the basis of Simon’s most commercially successful album ever – Graceland. The record became a true global phenomenon\, winning Grammys in both 1987 & 88\, shifting 5 million copies Stateside & then another 2.5 million copies in the UK alone. As it blew up worldwide\, the Graceland album spawned the hit singles\, ‘Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes’\, ‘The Boy in the Bubble’ & it’s biggest smash – ‘You Can Call Me Al.’ \nThe London African Gospel Choir are a collective of African singers\, musicians & dancers. They have quite literally performed with everyone who’s anyone\, including Annie Lennox & John Legend\, as well as gaining plaudits from Paul Simon himself. The total richness & harmony of the Choir’s rhythmic\, uplifting\, evocative & empowering voices\, create an overwhelming musical event. Ask anyone lucky enough to have experienced this astonishing show last time they were here & believe what you hear… \n‘To compare this show to anything else – would be like trying to measure love\, or joy\, with a ruler.’

SUMMARY:Chloe Foy – Live At The Tree House
DESCRIPTION:With her strikingly beautiful voice and emotionally direct songwriting\, Chloe Foy has a penchant for finding magic in the spaces between light and dark. Growing up in the quiet of the English countryside\, it was through music that she first learned how to express the nuance of emotion. Her songs are a reflection of that stillness\, woven with threads of vulnerability and longing. Her lyrics speak to the complexity of the human experience — love\, loss\, and the subtle daily battles we all fight. With a voice that’s as delicate as it is powerful\, she creates music that speaks to the heart. \nChloe Foy introduced herself to the world with her 2021 debut\, Where Shall We Begin. A rich and meticulously put together debut\, the album received rave reviews from the likes of The Sunday Times\, Clash and The Line of Best Fit. Tracks from the album regularly featured on BBC 6 Music\, with support coming from Guy Garvey and Radcliffe & Maconie. With the album charting in the UK Folk Chart Top 40\, Chloe truly cemented herself as an artist that flies the flag for the independent singer-songwriter with skill and finesse. \nChloe’s anticipated follow up Complete Fool\, due 6th June via Kartel Music Group\, captures a deepened\, richer sound; merging rock-tinged folk with classic strings and layered vocals that she is becoming known for. \nComplete Fool explores real love and puts a microscope to the finer details of what it means to love long-term. The album isn’t afraid to ask difficult questions. What is the cost of a long-term relationship? How do you balance divergent ambitions and priorities? Do we lose parts of ourselves in the process of falling in love? The answer lies in this beautiful\, poignant\, yet celebratory tribute to real life and real love. \nWhere Shall We Begin Album Reviews: \n“8/10 – It’s rare that an album is ten years in the making\, and honing that much emotion and experience into roughly 41 minutes is a monumental task. Chloe Foy accomplished it.” CLASH Magazine \n“9/10 – 10 years in the making\, it’s certainly been worth the wait.” – Gigwise \n“9/10 – A charming body of work\, Where Shall We Begin is a must listen”– The Line of Best Fit \n“7/10 – A collection of great intimacy and tenderness” – Uncut \nPlease note this is an 18+ all standing event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift.
