DESCRIPTION:Indie rock icons Maxïmo Park celebrate 20 years since the release of their Mercury Prize-nominated breakthrough debut album “A Certain Trigger” with a special one-off show at the Cheese and Grain. \nThe Mercury Prize-nominated record\, produced by Paul Epworth and released on Warp\, arrived with a trio of iconic singles in ‘Apply Some Pressure’\, ‘Graffiti’\, and ‘Going Missing’\, each of which still define the indie disco experience for many to this day. Released at the time into a landscape soon to become dominated by ten-a-penny guitar bands\, with A Certain Trigger Maxïmo Park were the bookish\, livewire outsiders\, bursting with punk power\, pop sensibility and literary smarts. \nEven their signing to Warp records – a label predominantly known for its experimental and electronic roster at the time – suggested a band with its eyes set beyond the horizon. Almost immediately\, and certainly in the time since its release\, A Certain Trigger has installed itself as a scene staple\, and a curiosity of the 00s that packs as much power today as it did 20 years ago. \nLead singer Paul Smith says “Not many bands make it to a twentieth year together so we’re having a big celebration\, with a special 20th anniversary tour and by giving a fresh perspective to A Certain Trigger. Our first album remains dear to so many people\, and compiling archive material for the reissue has been like entering a time machine – thrilling\, but also a bit scary! Happily\, we think the music has more than stood the test of time\, and the tour\, where we’ll revisit many of the beloved older songs\, will be a joyful experience for both us and our audience. DESCRIPTION:Raging Speedhorn formed in 1998 in Corby\, Northamptonshire\, merging members of Box and Soulcellar into a ferocious force of sludge\, metal\, and hardcore. Known for their dual-vocal attack—John Loughlin’s guttural growl alongside Frank Regan’s raw intensity\, the band quickly built a reputation for chaotic\, high-energy live shows. \nAfter the release of their self-titled debut (2000) and We Will Be Dead Tomorrow (2002)\, which saw “The Gush” enter the UK charts\, the band toured relentlessly with acts like Rammstein\, Slipknot\, and Biohazard\, and played major festivals including Ozzfest\, Reading\, and Download. Their third album\, How the Great Have Fallen (2005)\, preceded lineup changes and a fourth release\, Before the Sea Was Built (2007)\, before they disbanded in 2008. \nReforming in 2014\, the band returned with renewed energy\, headlining stages at Sonisphere and Damnation Festival\, and releasing Lost Ritual (2016) and Hard to Kill (2020)\, the latter charting across UK rock and indie rankings. They’ve since toured extensively across the UK and Europe with bands like Sepultura\, Napalm Death\, and Skindred\, and appeared at major festivals including Wacken. \nIn 2024\, Raging Speedhorn released their latest record\, continuing their legacy of uncompromising heaviness. \nPlease note this is an 18+ all-standing event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift. Unleashing a powerful fusion of jazz\, funk\, hip-hop\, and rap through a vibrant arsenal of trombones\, saxophones\, trumpets\, and pounding snare and bass drums. \nHot 8 Brass Band draw on the traditional jazz heritage of their hometown\, alongside more modern styles\, including elements of funk\, hip hop\, rap\, and its local variation\, “bounce.” The collective earned a win in the 64th Annual Grammy Awards 2022 for their feature on John Batiste’s ‘Album of The Year’\, following the nomination of ‘The Life & Times Of…’ for ‘Best Regional Roots Album’ in 2013. \nWith multiple sell-out shows at London’s Roundhouse and Brighton’s Dome\, Hot 8 continues to share their acclaimed releases. Mixing an old-school street brass approach with funkier currents and hip-hop vocals\, Hot 8’s magnificent originals are juxtaposed with fresh versions of Snoop Dogg\, Stevie Wonder\, The Specials and of course their anthemic take on Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing”. \nThe recent passing of Bennie Pete\, the beloved co-founder and sousaphone player for the outfit\, was honoured in true New Orleans fashion with ‘The Bossman Tour 2023’\, paying tribute to his “galvanizing force” as a “leader\, teacher\, and mentor”. Fellow bandmates added that “Bennie was an inspiration to [the] band and to many other musicians\, and the entire musical and cultural community.” \nThe dates celebrated the late Bennie’s “greatest wish… that New Orleans culture lives on for future generations”. This parade followed the success of the Mardi Gras 2020 and ‘Take Cover’ 2019 tours.
