Treasures of the Early Baroque

1st Oct 2017 @ 15:00 - 17:00

£5 – £8
Outside Insight Concert Series
For this teatime concert, early music specialists Musicke in the Ayre uncover hidden gems of the 17th century from Venice, Ferrara and Versailles, including rarely heard pieces for three sopranos originally written for the famed ‘Singing ladies’ of the Ferrara court and their imitators.
Listen out for some references to the Three Graces, some of which you may also discover amongst the art exhibits!
Musicke in the Ayre is an evolving circle of singers and instrumentalists formed by lutenist/luthier Din Ghani in 2011 to explore the vast repertoire of 16th and 17th century art song from across Europe, accompanied by the lute and related instruments. Musicke in the Ayre’s ethos is to present concert programmes that are engaging and  entertaining, as well as educational.
Tea and biscuits are available from 2.30pm. Delicious single-estate, fair-trade Colombian coffee and chocolate will also be available at our special stall for the event.
