Play the Piano by Ear with Stephen Marquiss

Escape the score and make friends with the piano in fresh ways! If you’ve always played from sheet music, you may find that you lack the confidence to play by ear.

This One Day course, for all pianists from beginners to intermediate players, will introduce techniques for playing by ear from scratch. The course will include non-intimidating singing, rhythm and improvisation activities alongside pentatonic melodies and simple classical music. The principles taught are widely applicable to music in any genre.

Stephen Marquiss is an experienced pianist and teacher, specialising in helping adults to overcome blocks and technical challenges, and to play fluently and expressively.
