Spotlight on Independents: Amica

Amica is the largest shop on Cheap Street. Sitting proudly at the top of the hill, it has been trading for almost 40 years and boasts original carved Tudor Roses which can be viewed from the window.

As you step inside you’ll quickly realise why it is described as the Aladdin’s cave of Cheap Street. Each doorway leads on to another room, and each room is filled floor to ceiling with a seemingly endless array of gifts. Take a walk down the stairs to admire the impressive medieval beams, a reminder of the rich history of the street.

Amica is a gift shop, stocking children’s stuffed toys by Jellycat, leather goods by Radley & Tula, Somerset toiletries and Crabtree & Evelyn cosmetics. It also has a huge range of home ware, including British pottery by Portmerion. Bags, photo albums and frames, soaps, perfumes and candles. There’s something here for everyone.

Once you found the perfect gift, round off your visit by choosing from the selection of wrapping paper and assortment of greetings cards, designed by local artists around Frome.

Amica is a gift shop with a difference. “So much to choose from – the go to place to find something a little quirky for a loved one”
