Spotlight on Independents: Marchbank Jewellery Design

One of two jewellers on Cheap Street, Marchbank Jewellery Design is owned by goldsmith and silversmith Stephen Thomas (pictured) and run by himself and his wife Anna.

Marchbank stock an eclectic mix of jewellery from designers such as Alex Monroe, Edblad, Yaron Morhaim and Fiorelli Silver. They also have a wide selection of watches from O.W.L, Jos Von Arx and Danish Design. Both modern and classical tastes are catered for.

Stephen has over 38 years of experience in jewellery design as well as restoration, remodelling and repair of fine jewellery and antique gold and silver items. He began as an apprentice when he was a teenager and has been refining his skills ever since. His advanced skills mean Marchbank can provide commissioned bespoke items, so if you’re looking for a unique gift or can’t seem to find the wedding ring you dreamt of, you are welcome to come for a consultation.

All of Stephen’s pieces are made by hand in his workshop, which is right here in the store. You’ll find some of his expertly crafted original items amongst the other brands in stock. Of course, all repair and resizing services are available here too.

Marchbank Jewellery Design is a member of the Register of Fairtrade Goldsmiths, part of the Fairtrade Foundation and Stephen is also a registered member of the National Association of Jewellers. You can find some of their products on their website, also find out more about their commission and repair services. www.marchbankjewellery.com
