Against The Grain Comedy Club Christmas Special

14th Dec 2017 @ 20:00 - 22:30

£10

December’s Against the Grain falls on a Thursday for the first time, but it’s Christmas right? And Thursday is the new Friday. So get your laughing shoes on and clear your diary for what is looking like a wonderful line up. Headlining is writer for  8 Out of 10 Cats, BBC’S Mock The Week Jake Lambert – very funny, very charming and performing in Frome for the first time. We’re delighted to have him. Also on is Tom Glover, funny, multi-skilled and a hit with audiences wherever he goes.

Jake Lambert (he says, pretending someone else wrote this to seem more professional) started stand-up after gaining a following on Twitter under the pseudonym @LittleLostLad. He (I) then decided to put down his (my) iPhone and pick up a microphone. It has proven to be a great choice with him (me) making it to the semi-finals of the BBC New comedy Award within 6 months of his (my) first gig, allowing him (me) to perform on both BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 2.

His (my) joke writing has lead him (me) to write for such shows as 8 Out of 10 Cats, BBC’S Mock The Week, and E4’s Virtually Famous.

Jake (I’ll stop with this now) has gone on to receive a plethera of nominations including TheMagners New Comedian of the Year 2015, and the prestigious Leicester Mercury New Act of the Year 2015.
He also made it to the final of the English Comedian of the Year and the Amused Moose Laugh Off Final, 2016.

In 2017 Jake supported Seann Walsh on his One For The Road tour.
He also supported Rob Beckett on his Mouth of The South tour.
He was also asked to support Romesh Ranganathan on his tour, Irrational.

“Brilliant one-liners” – Steve Bennett, Chortle.

“He’s got gags to burn, and can weave them seamlessly into his routines…he’s a talent.”  – Paul Fleckney, Chortle

“Could easily be a TV star in a few years” – Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke.

“Jake Lambert is smashing the circuit with his combination of youthful charm and quick gags. Jake is a unique performer with a winning combination of one-liners, short stories and original thoughts and as a result is like nothing you’ve ever seen before.” – LOL Comedy Club.

“He is the perfect combination of Jack Whitehall and Russell Howard with a sprinkling of Milton Jones.” – Chloe Coleman.

One of the leading new faces on the South West comedy scene Tom Glover is the regular host for comedy nights at the Weymouth Pavilion, Bridport Arts Centre and Teignmouth Pavilions to name just a few, regularly performing alongside such acts as Russell Kane, Joe Lycett, the legendary Sean Hughes and Shappi Khorsandi.

In the Grain Bar – doors open at 19.30.
